I finally managed to go horse-riding again and it was great. My neighbour Louise goes horse-riding every Friday at a stable close to us and I went a couple of times with her. I got Keeper, a wonderful horse and I really enjoyed the lesson.
George and I had a wonderful day in Kensington with my friend. George is very keen on her as she always spoils him. We met at Imperial Wharf where she lives and drove to South Kensington where we parked and from the minute we got out of the car, George only had eyes for Uschi, as we call her. He is already a ladies man.
We bought Red Velvet Cakes from the Hummingbird Bakery on 47 Old Brompton Road and we then went for a ‘coffee’ at La Bottega on 97 Old Brompton Road. We actually didn’t have coffee and ordered sparkling water ‘San Pellegrino’ and ‘San Bennedetto’ Peach ice tea instead. George loved it a lot as you can see in the picture. He also loved being carried around by my friend, as he usually has to walk when he is with me. Lucky him.
We then headed to Maggie&Rose in Pembroke Road, W8. Maggie&Rose is a private members club for families. It is wonderful. In 2011 I went for my friend’s boy’s birthday party and I didn’t actually know it was THE Maggie&Rose club.
Georgie Porgie, Puddin’ and Pie, Kissed the girls and made them cry, When the boys came out to play Georgie Porgie ran away.
Does anybody know this English nursery rhyme? I started singing it to George once in a while ever since my neighbour Louise told me about it. Her daughter sings it to George too. I was very pleased to find the picture on the wall. It is lovely, as everything else at M&R.
Will we join Maggie&Rose? I think the picture says it all.
I am so fed up by this weather. It is driving me crazy. We have nearly April and we still have an inch of snow. I want sunshine, not snow or rain.
I would like to do so many things with George but I don’t want to go out when it is horrible outside. I am already looking at options on what to do from October when his sibling will join the family.
I only have ten days to go in my February Savings challenge and I still have £124.09 left. That is an average of £12.40 a day to spend. It wasn’t easy but it wasn’t as hard as I thought.
My Maths exam is on the 3rd of June and I am already worrying that I will fail.
Does anybody have revision tips?
George and I went up the Shard yesterday. It was a wonderful experience and the views are breathtaking. It’s a shame that the weather wasn’t great but we will return on a sunny day. Our trip was spontaneous and as I didn’t book tickets in advance I paid £29.95 and the ticket was free for George as well as for all other under three’s. If you book your ticket in advance you only pay £24.95.
Every single member of staff was incredibly friendly, polite and enthusiastic. I hope that this isn’t just because it only open recently. Everybody has to go through security and within 2 minutes you are on the 68th level. The highest floor that is open to the public is the 72nd. It is open-air and should you choose to go on a chilly day I would advise you to wear a coat. It is freezing up there.
The Shard has 95 floors and a total height of 309.6 meters. It is the tallest building in the European Union as well asWestern Europe and the second highest in Europe, after Moscow’s Mercury City Tower.
The powerhouse behind Zuma and Roka, Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney, will open their restaurant and bar ‘Oblix’ (the name is a play on ‘obelisk’) on the 32nd floor of the shard this summer. A further restaurant, Aqua, will open as well this summer. The amazing five star hote Shangri-La will be located on the 34th-52nd floor while the residential apartments are on the 53rd to the 65th floor. A seven bedroom flat will cost you a whopping £50m. The offices will be on the second to 28th floor.
I can only recommend everybody to go up the Shard and experience the View yourself. It is pricey, but hey we are in London and you only have to do it once. Take a picnik and eat up there on a less busy day. Propose finally to your girlfriend or just enjoy the View. There is a gift shop and you can have your picture taken. I paid £28 for a leather framed picture of us, the Shard and a digital print to my email address.
I am so glad I ditched my nasty habit of drinking diet coke or coke zero. I feel much better.
A very interesting article about celiac and gluten sensitivity from the New York Times website.
Day 2 and 3 of my February Swing challenge are over. Yesterday I didn’t spend any money but today I spend £5.99 on a Kindle book. It’s The Monk who sold his Ferrari. Then I paid £5.90 for my Travelcard as well as £3.79 for Lunch. I took a cab home which adds another £5. It all comes to £20.68.
I have £259.32 left until the 1st of March.
and I didn’t spend any money today.
Money left: £280
